Cape Fear region residents discuss transportation plan
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — With the Cape Fear region growing, transportation planners are looking to the future and they want the public’s help. Wednesday night residents had a chance to submit their thoughts on how the area could expand as far as roads, walkways and other means of getting around.
The Wilmington Metropolitan Planning Organization is hosting meetings for the public throughout the month, gathering information. Suraiya Rashid, associate transportation planner, says getting public information is important.
“Public input is absolutely critical for the development of these plans because what happens is essentially these plans provide the bread basket from which the state and the federal government decides which transportation projects need to be funded in our region,” said Rashid.
There will be will be public input meetings until April 30th around the area. Click here to submit a comment or see the meeting schedule.
