Captain Holden resigns in Brunswick County
A Brunswick County sheriff’s department Captain has resigned, after being placed on administrative leave following an incident inside the jail.
The incident involved a Leland resident who was brought to the jail on charges of being drunk and disruptive. While at the jail, he hit his head inside the cell and slipped into a coma.
Captain Holden was in charge of the jail, but authorities say he was not there at the time of the incident.
Sheriff Ingram did say Holden’s resignation had to do with personnel issues. The department is looking into naming a new jail administrator in the coming weeks. Holden was the Brunswick County Jail Administrator for eight years.
