Car, wallet taken after drunken nap turns into robbery

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Investigators with the Wilmington Police Department are looking for two men in connection with an armed robbery.

Police said around 4 a.m. a 30-year-old man left downtown and was headed home when he realized he was drunk. Police said he pulled over in the 800-block of S. 8th Street and fell asleep. The victim said he awoke to the sound of tapping on his window and a black male with dreadlocks asking for money or drugs. The robber then pulled out a handgun and told the victim to get out of his car.

At that time, another man blocked him in with a Chrysler Pacifica and took his wallet and phone. The first robber then drove off with the victim’s Mercedes.

There was no suspect description given for the second robber.
