Career Day at Leland Middle School

The days of waiting until college to figure out what you want to do when you grow up are going by the way side.

Twenty-one area professionals visited the students at Leland Middle School and explained all that is involved with their careers. The students heard from a pediatrician, veterinarian, district attorney and even a Screen Gems stunt man, among others.

Students said the day got them thinking about their future. Seventh grader Matthew Deankins said, “Yeah I really think it’s helping because there’s like the soccer player and I used to play soccer and it makes me want to play again and the stunt man that would be kind of cool and the state trooper.”

Administrators hope to make Career Day an annual program in all Brunswick County schools.
