Carney chosen to complete Forrester’s Senate term

GASTONIA, NC (AP) — The Mayor Pro-tem of Mooresville has been chosen to fill the term of the late Sen. Jim Forrester of Gaston County.

The Gaston Gazette reported the Republican executive committee for Senate District 41 selected Chris Carney to replace Forrester.

Forrester died Oct. 31, while serving his 11th term in the North Carolina Senate.

The district includes Lincoln County and parts of Gaston and Iredell counties.
