Carolina Beach arsonist to appear in Wake County court in fatal DWI

RALEIGH, NC (StarNews) — A Kure Beach man who was sentenced to two life terms for a series of fires in Carolina Beach that claimed the lives of two women will appear Monday in Wake County Superior Court on fatal impaired driving charges, court records show.

Marshall Hudson Doran, 23, is scheduled to go to trial in Wake County on two counts of felony death by motor vehicle, two counts of felony hit-and-run causing death and one count each of driving while impaired and possession of amphetamine.

According to the NC State Highway Patrol report, on Feb. 13, 2014, just after 8 p.m., Doran was westbound on Interstate 40 in Wake County when he happened upon a stopped vehicle that had spun out on the snowy road.
