Carolina Beach lifeguards heading to national competition
CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Carolina Beach town council wasted no time Monday night approving up to $10,000 to send lifeguards to the National Ocean Rescue competition.
The money joins approximately $8,500 raised from local merchants by Carolina Beach Downtown Initiative.
The town council thinks the competition will make a strong statement about the beach town.
“I think the national exposure tells vacationers and tourists that we have a safe beach with an outstanding ocean rescue team, so you can feel confident when you come here with your children.” Carolina Beach Mayor Bob Lewis said.
No one at the meeting opposed the move.
