Good Samaritan pulls unresponsive man from surf in Carolina Beach

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Carolina Beach Police Department says a good Samaritan pulled an unresponsive man from the surf Thursday night.

Police say it happened shortly after 10 p.m. on Charlotte Avenue near the Carolina Beach Boardwalk.

When emergency responders reportedly arrived to give aid, the man was already dead.

The man has been identified, but CBPD says the name will not be released until the next of kin has been notified.

The official cause of death will be determined by the North Carolina Office of The Medical Examiners.

No foul play is suspected at this time.

The investigation is still ongoing.
