Carolina Beach sets penalties for pier jumping, leaving beach holes

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (StarNewsOnline.com) — Leaving holes on the beach and leaping from commercial fishing piers is now prohibited in Carolina Beach, aligning the town's ordinances with Kure and Wrightsville Beach policies.

The Carolina Beach Town Council made the changes last week at its meeting, with all five members voting unanimously to put the changes in place.

It is now unlawful for people to dig holes, trenches or other depressions on the beach strand and Freeman Park or adjacent to the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and leave without first completely filling in the depression they created. Those who depart without filling it in face a $100 fine.
