Carolina Beach teen charged with statutory rape

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A Carolina Beach teenager faces child sex crimes charges.

Joseph Jayden Nance, 18, was arrested on Thursday. He is charged the following:

• Statutory rape of a child more than 4 years but less than 6 years older than the victim
• Statutory sex offense of a child mroe than 4 years but less than 6 years older than the victim
• 2 counts of indecent liberties with a child

Carolina Beach Police say the crimes took place between August 15 and December 18. The alleged victim is a 13-year-old girl.

Police say they executed search warrants at Nance’s home on December 23.

He is being held under a $150,000 bond.
