Carolina Beach town council approves budget
CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Carolina Beach’s new budget includes more police officers, money for road improvements, an increase in lifeguard salaries and more.
Town council approved the nearly $23 million budget Tuesday, adding three police officers, and a full- and part-time beach ranger. It also includes over $1 million for repaving streets and other improvements.
The tax rate will go down to 22.5 cents per $100 of property value.
There are some increases in fees including residential parking permits, Freeman Park camping permits, rezoning application fees and others.
Mayor Dan Wilcox says some of the increases are overdue. “Some of those fees,” he says, ” haven’t been changed in 12 years.”
The budget was unanimously passed.
