Carolina Hurricanes win the Stanley Cup in 6 games over the Vegas Golden Knights

LAS VEGAS, NV (WWAY) — Lord Stanley’s Cup is the newest resident of the Tar Heel State as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Las Vegas Golden Knights 3-0 in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals Sunday night.

With a  3 to 2 series lead, the Hurricanes scored early when Taylor Hall got behind the defense and found the back of the net less than 4 minutes into the game.

The Canes got great goaltending from undrafted rookie Brandon Bussi, who made 22 saves, to shut out the Golden Knights.

Center Jordan Staal, the longest tenured player on the team, was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy, given to the postseason’s most valuable player.

This is the Canes’ second title and first since 2006.
