Castle Hayne man convicted of methamphetamine trafficking

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Castle Hayne man will spend at least 5 years behind bars after pleading guilty to trafficking methamphetamine.
According to a news release from District Attorney Jon David’s office, 62-year-old Joseph Grizzle made the plea and was sentenced in Brunswick County Superior Court this week.
The release states Grizzle was stopped by Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies on December 12th of 2023 for suspicion of driving while impaired and was found to have a warrant for his arrest in an unrelated case.
While a deputy and K-9 partner were searching Grizzle’s vehicle, they found a magnetic box containing a large amount of methamphetamine.
Grizzle was sentenced to between 5 and 7 years in prison and ordered to pay a $50,000 fine.
