Castle Hayne mom battling cancer receives free HVAC unit

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A New Hanover County mother who is battling breast cancer needed a new HVAC system, but the cost of medical treatments made that a financial burden.

But on Thursday morning, Helen Jordan received a new system.

ARS Rescue Rooter found out about Jordan’s circumstances, after she was nominated for the ARS Cares Program.

According to ARS, despite going through treatments and being physically ill, Helen is assisting her parents in their home renovation.

“She would give the shirt off her back to someone who she thought needed it more,” said Brian Jordan, who nominated Helen. “Giving her this HVAC unit would allow her the comfort she deserves while battling cancer.”

The ARS Cares Program donates HVAC units to people in need in the community.
