Carolina Beach Marriott closed due to water damage

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Carolina Beach Marriott is now closed due to water damage.

Mayor Dan Wilcox says, via Facebook post, “In response to messages about fire trucks at the Marriott this afternoon, first responders did responded to a fire alarm on 6th floor of the Marriott. Town responders have evaluated conditions and there is minimal fire damage but water has penetrated down to the lobby.”

Mayor Wilcox went on to say, “Based on the repairs needed to the sprinkler, fire alarm, electrical system, and general fire and water damaged the hotel has been closed. Marriott staff is working to check out guest and find them accommodations. The ownership will be starting repairs immediately.”

We will have more on the damage and investigation as soon as possible.
