Celebrate National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It’s not Christmas just yet, but it is National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day!

The day was created so people could have an excuse to wear their tackiest holiday sweaters. In recent years, ugly Christmas sweater parties have become so popular that it’s hard to find them in stores.

At The Bargain Box of Wilmington, employee Lizzie Van Etten said they collect them all year long to have enough to sell during the holidays.

“People keep asking, even past Christmas time because they’ve got the New Year’s parties too and we’ve got some that can go either way, but it’s fun,” Van Etten said.
