Celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the Stamp Act

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — City Council recognized the 250th Anniversary of the Stamp Act with a proclamation. Members of the Daughters of the American Revolution were also on hand to recognize the event.

The stamp act was a tax imposed on colonists that was one of the catalysts for the American Revolution. Folks from tonight’s event said it’s important to remember your history.

“To appreciate what we have, to realize what people sacrificed, so that we can live the life that we have today,” said Carole Weiss with DAR.

The DAR plans a events to commemorate the Stamp Act all during the course of this year.
