Celebration of life event set for teen killed in car crash
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A public celebration is scheduled for the South Brunswick High School student who was killed in a car crash.
Lily Beatini died in a crash near the school yesterday morning. Beatini was a senior and member of the cheerleading teams, among other activities.
According to BCS spokeswoman Jessica Swencki, the celebration of life will happen Friday at 6 p.m. at the gym at SBHS. Swencki said those planning to attend will wear “Cougar Blue” in her honor. The ceremony will last about an hour and will end with a release of balloons in the school’s courtyard.
A GoFundMe page has been started to help the family with funeral costs. The family also asks for people to donate to a memorial scholarship that will be established in Lily’s name, in lieu of flowers. Donations should be payable to the “South Brunswick High School Athletic Booster Club” and can be dropped off or mailed to the school.
The family will receive friends tomorrow from 3-5pm at the funeral home, Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral and Cremation Service in Southport. The Celebration of Life will follow at 6pm at South Brunswick High School.
