Center for children with autism continues to fundraise for school bus
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A local non-profit that helps kids with autism said they are traveling along with fundraising for a new bus.
WWAY originally told the story of their GoFundMe campaign two weeks ago.
They hope to raise money for a new bus to get the kids more involved outside the classroom. Director Erica Merriman said, thanks to the community, the organization is well on their way to their fundraising goal.
“A lot of people in the community have reached out and said ‘we’ll do whatever we can to help,’ so we’ve just been so excited about the response that we’ve had,” Merriman said.
Today, Jeff Gordon Chevrolet and Enterprise treated the students to a “fun day” the Wilmington Hammerheads Youth Sports Center. The outing was part of Chevy’s “Day it Forward” campaign to help others, and pay it forward, on this extra day of February. Jeff Gordon Chevrolet will be raffling a brand new Chevy Malibu for those who donate to the program’s GoFundMe page.
