WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College has announced a new partnership with the New York Film Academy, creating an articulation agreement that paves the way for CFCC students to pursue advanced studies in the visual and performing arts.

This collaboration provides transfer opportunities and enriches educational experiences in film, acting, musical theatre, and game design.

NYFA, based in New York City, with additional campuses in Los Angeles and Miami, is internationally recognized for its immersive, hands-on programs in film, media, and the performing arts.

Under this agreement, CFCC students who have successfully completed an eligible associate degree can transfer directly into bachelor’s degree programs at NYFA:

·         Associate of Fine Arts in Theater to Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting for Film

·         Associate of Fine Arts in Theater to Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater

·         Associate of Applied Science in Film and Video Production to Bachelor of Fine Arts in Filmmaking

·         Associate of Applied Science in Simulation and Game Development to Bachelor of Fine Arts in Game Design

In addition to this articulation agreement, CFCC students will also have the benefit of a tuition discount.

Students are also eligible to apply for internal NYFA scholarships, including merit and talent-based awards.

“This partnership opens the door for our students to take their talents and training to one of the most well-respected creative institutions in the world,” said CFCC President Jim Morton. “NYFA is known for its high-impact, experiential learning approach, and we’re excited our students have the opportunity to learn in that environment as they take their next step in their artistic journeys.”

“Cape Fear students come to us with a strong creative foundation, and we’re excited to help them take that further,” said Michael Young, President of the New York Film Academy, College of Film, Media, and Performing Arts. “At NYFA, they’ll expand their skills through immersive projects, close mentorship, and a direct connection to the creative industries. Whether they’re studying acting, filmmaking, musical theatre, or game design, CFCC students will find a clear path to continue their training with us. We’re proud to partner with CFCC to support the next generation of storytellers.”
