WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College has announced two new transfer agreements with East Carolina University that will allow eligible students pursuing careers in public safety and criminal justice to continue their education by earning bachelor’s degrees.

Under the new partnership, graduates of CFCC’s Associate in Applied Science in Public Safety Administration program can transfer directly into ECU’s Bachelor of Science in Security Studies program, while students who complete CFCC’s Associate in Applied Science in Criminal Justice Technology program  can transfer into ECU’s Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Criminology program. Students in both must meet GPA requirements

“We are proud to partner with East Carolina University to create new opportunities for our students,” CFCC President Jim Morton said. “At CFCC, we are committed to removing barriers and creating clear pathways to success. This agreement allows students in public safety and criminal justice to continue their education with confidence, preparing them for both career advancement and future leadership roles that will make a lasting impact on the communities they serve.”

Dr. Chris Buddo, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at ECU, said the partnership expands access to four-year degree opportunities for North Carolina students.

“This partnership is a great example of how East Carolina University is making a four-year college degree more accessible for students in our state,” Buddo said. “We’re grateful that CFCC shares our vision of student success and are happy to work with them to create a stronger workforce.”
