CFCC culinary students show off just desserts
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Just what you need after the big feed last Thursday. Culinary students at Cape Fear Community College presented their annual Pastries and Confections Open House this afternoon.
For five dollars it was all you could eat from more than 70 decadent dishes. There were cakes, pies, cupcakes, candies, a gingerbread man and much more.
Hundreds of people enjoyed the event and the sweets.
Melonie Elliott had her baked goods on display.
“I have all kinds of things,” she said. “I made a giant gingerbread man. He is completely edible. I have a chocolate torte. I have ginger cake and pudding, and I made individual tiramisus. I really enjoyed it. It is my last semester. I am graduating next week, but this to me is more important than the graduation ceremony.”
The class has been working toward the event throughout the semester.
All proceeds fund scholarships for culinary students.
