CFCC hosting job fair Wednesday for students & public

WILMINGTON – Hundreds of Cape Fear Community College students are expected to attend the annual spring job fair in hopes that the contacts they meet could lead to a job after graduation. The fair will be held on April 21 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the McKeithan Center at the North Campus in Castle Hayne.

About 36 local employers will be on campus from a wide variety of industries, which range from health care to sales – and early childhood education to law enforcement.

The CFCC Career and Testing Department organized the event to bring employers and students together to help students not just make connections, but to get jobs. After the fair, some of the employers will be interviewing students for an estimated 100 open positions.

College officials are encouraging students to dress to impress and make a good first impression because with a tight job market, they’ll not only be competing with each other, but all over the community.

“It’s no secret that the job market is tough right now. That’s why students need to really make an extra effort to show employers that they not only have the skills to do the job, but the desire as well,” said Matthew Thomas, CFCC’s job placement specialist.
