CFCC staff, faculty raise $76,000 for students in need

It was a celebration of faculty and staff at Cape Fear Community College Wednesday. As part of the College Fund Drive, faculty and staff raised a record $76,000 dollars to help students in need.

The record donation comes despite salary cuts and record enrollment at Cape Fear. Eighty percent of the faculty and staff participated in this years drive.

Fund drive co-chair Amanda Lee, PhD said, “We see day in and day out what the students are dealing with, we see what their problems are, we see what their challenges are, so if we don’t step up to make a difference, who can we expect to step up?”

To thank the staff, the CFCC foundation held an appreciation event Wednesday afternoon. The campus fund drive kicks of the foundations annual campaign to raise support for student scholarships throughout the local community.
