CFPUA customers under water restrictions until further notice

WILMINGTON, NC (CFPUA) — As a result of the waterline damage in Brunswick County, Cape Fear Public Utility Authority is issuing water restrictions for ALL commercial and residential customers in its service area until further notice.  Customers should reduce their water usage to ensure service for all customers and adequate supply for essential services, such as fire protection and hospital/medical uses.

The restrictions are as follows:

  • Do not use water for outside use, including lawn or garden watering, car washing, and topping off of swimming pools.
  • Customers are asked to avoid potential wasting of water by turning it off when it is not in use, like when brushing teeth, washing hands, and washing dishes.
  • Do not run your water until it is cold before drinking.  Use ice cubes to cool your water.
  • Limit use of dishwashers and laundry machines to full loads.

Updates will be provided through CFPUA’s website and via social media through under Twitter handle @CFPUA, and through mass media.  CFPUA customers will be notified when the restrictions are lifted using all of these tools.

To report a water emergency, please contact (910) 332-6565.
