WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority has ended its voluntary water conservation advisory after recent rainfall significantly improved drought conditions across its service area.

The advisory, which was issued on July 9, has been lifted effective immediately as of Monday, Aug. 10.

CFPUA said customers may now resume normal water usage.

The utility thanked customers for conserving water over the past month, saying those efforts helped ensure there was enough water available for critical needs, including fire protection and medical services.

Although the advisory has ended, CFPUA encourages customers to continue practicing water conservation throughout the year. The utility offers year-round water-saving tips on its website.
