CFPUA lifts boil water advisory for Masonboro Loop Road area

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Public Utility Authority has lifted a precautionary boil water advisory affecting part of Masonboro Loop Road and the surrounding area.
The advisory was lifted effective immediately Thursday, Oct. 1, and CFPUA says water service in the area has returned to normal operation.
The advisory was originally issued Wednesday following a water main break that affected approximately 200 customers.
The affected area included addresses from 4609 to 4417 Masonboro Loop Road, all of Channel Haven and Pelican Point, as well as 101 Seminole Trail, 102 Mohican Trail and 101 Cheyenne Trail.
CFPUA issued the advisory because periods of low or no water pressure can increase the risk of bacteria entering the water system.
Before lifting a boil water advisory, CFPUA lab staff test the water to ensure it is safe to drink.
