CFPUA may be shutting off your water

If you have been running from your water bill, next week your water may stop running.

The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority plans to start shutting off water for 3,000 “extremely delinquent” customers on Tuesday.

The utility authority sent letters to at-risk customers with bills at least 90 days overdue and owing more than $350.

The utility authority plans to shut off water for about 300 customers each week unless they pay their bills.

To avoid a shutoff, customers can call customer service to set up a payment plan.
