Chair of NC Republican Party sues local radio host Curtis Wright
The North Carolina Association of Broadcasters is weighing in on a lawsuit against Wilmington talk radio host Curtis Wright.
Tom Fetzer, the chair of the North Carolina Republican Party, has sued Wright for defamation after Wright forwarded an anonymous letter to people in the Republican Party that insinuated Fetzer is gay.
Attorneys for the NCAB say legal precedent is not on Fetzer’s side. To prove slander, you must prove your professional reputation has been injured, that someone accused you of having a loathsome disease, or that they accused you of being a criminal.
Unless Fetzer loses his position as state party chair, it may be difficult to prove damages.
Curtis Wright and his fellow defendants say this lawsuit has no merit.
