Charges dismissed in Leland cellphone fraud case

LELAND, NC (STARNEWS) — Charges were dismissed Monday against a Fayetteville man arrested in August on allegations he fraudulently obtained over $11,000 in new cellphones.

According to a news release at the time of the arrest, Daniel Kwaku Gbediame, 26, was charged by the Leland Police Department with obtaining property by false pretenses in the amount of $11,550 in new cell phones.

The release stated officials believed Gbediame was “involved in multi-jurisdiction fraud involving new cellular phones.”
