Charges dropped against Oak Island mayor

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — Oak Island’s mayor is no longer in trouble with the law. Betty Wallace says the woman who accused her of misdemeanor assault last summer has dropped the charge.

The charge stemmed from an incident at her parents’ home after the death of Wallace’s father.

Wallace says her lawyer is working to get it all expunged from her record.
