Charity golf tournament scheduled for former police officer who died of brain cancer

WILMINGTON, NC (NEWS RELEASE) – On Saturday, October 9th, we invite everyone in the area to Cape Fear National Golf Course to participate in a charity golf tournament and cook out to benefit children who tragically lost their father last year.

The tournament, organized by Jody MePherson’s fellow Wilmington Police officers, will be an event full of fun, prizes, good food; but also of reflection on an officer who protected us and our community. “Jody was a fun loving guy who was passsionate about being a police officer,” former partner Andy Lazzaro said.

Sargeant Jody McPherson died in December of brain cancer.

One hundred percent of the proceeds will go toward helping provide Jody’s twin two year old sons with funds for education. We are looking for players, hole sponsors and silent auction prizes to benefit this worthy cause.

Checks should be made to: McPherson Family Fund.
