Child Development Center in Wilmington celebrates 50 years

Happy Birthday wishes to the Child Development Center in Wilmington. The organization celebrated its 50th anniversary Thursday.

CDC began in Sunday School classrooms at Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church. It originally served children with developmental problems. Today it takes care of all kids ages two to five.

The CDC and Smart Start of North Carolina came together for the celebration. “Smart Start is about collaboration and bringing people together to make a difference for young children and families, and this is one way that the various agencies that are working with children under 5 come together to ensure that children have an opportunity to be better prepared for success in school,” said Smart Start Executive Director Janet Nelson.

The festivities included story time and a book distribution for the kids.
