Church holds annual school supply drive
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — With the school year just around the corner, a Leland church stepped up to give back to area students.
Saturday was First Baptist Church’s 6th year holding their annual school supply drive. Church members and students collected pens, pencils, notebooks and other school necessities to give to more than 400 families. Pastor Joshua Reilly said they want to show that there are people out there who care for others.
“Every child no matter the circumstance they’re in deserves to go to school with the supplies that they need to start the school year off right,” Reilly said. “But in addition to that, as a part of this ministry, you just see that there’s a lot of need in our community.”
The church plans to donate all the leftover supplies to Lincoln Elementary.
