Churches still working on repairing vandalism
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Two weeks after two Brunswick County churches were vandalized, both said they want to move forward and are working to fix the damage that was left behind.
Several windows including their entrance doors were damaged at Blackwell Chapel AME Zion Church and less than a half a mile down the road two windows were damaged at Providence Missionary Baptist Church.
Blackwell Chapel Reverend Felecia Jones said her message is forgiveness and moving forward.
“We are people of faith. We walk by faith and not by sight. We are not discouraged, we are just moving forward in the Lord, trusting him to do what needs to be done,” Jones said.
Both churches are working on getting the damage repaired. Providence Church said they have ordered new windows and Blackwell Church said they are trying to raise the funds to get everything fixed. If you would like to help Blackwell Church with repairs, you can send the donations to 10051 Blackwell Rd SE Leland, NC 28451.
Jones said Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating and have increased security in the area.
