CIA whistleblower has Wilmington ties

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The man who is reportedly the main source behind the revelation of large-scale government surveillance programs has ties to Wilmington.

The Washington Post reports that Edward Snowden, 29, may have once lived in the Port City.

“Public records show residences for Snowden in the North Carolina cities of Elizabeth City and Wilmington and that his family later moved to Ellicott City, Md. — near the NSA headquarters at Fort Meade,” the Post reports.

The newspaper does not provide any other details about Snowden’s life in North Carolina.
