Circuit City to begin liquidation of stores
Bad news for employees of Wilmington’s Circuit City; the company is shutting down the remainder of it’s US stores.
The liquidation of the 567 stores means 30,000 employees will lose their jobs. The company closed 155 stores at the end of last year.
The electronics retailer filed for Chapter 11 in November, and was looking for a buyer or a debt refinancing deal, but neither materialized.
Sales will start as early as tomorrow at some stores. They will close when liquidation sales are complete, likely at the end of March.
