City of Whiteville drought update

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — Drought conditions are widespread across North Carolina and may worsen. The U.S. Drought Monitor has raised the drought category to D-2, severe drought conditions.
The City of Whiteville encourages all citizens to help conserve water resources.
According to Whiteville City’s Water Response Plan, customers are expected to reduce their water use by 10% in comparison to their previous month’s water bill.
In addition, the following restrictions apply:
- outdoor use of drinking water for washing impervious surfaces is prohibited
- all testing and training purposes requiring drinking water will be limited.
An approaching cold front and weak surface low pressure will bring an increased coverage of showers and storms on Thursday and Friday, but until then, the restrictions will be in place.
