City of Whiteville votes to name bridge after fallen trooper

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — Whiteville City leaders plan to name a bridge after fallen trooper Kevin Conner.

Trooper Conner was shot and killed during a traffic stop in Columbus County last October.

According to Whiteville Emergency Services Director Hal Lowder, city council passed a resolution to name the 701 bypass over Main Street after Trooper Conner.

Lowder says the North Carolina Department of Transportation still has to approve the name change.
