City of Wilmington lifts curfew
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The City of Wilmington has lifted the curfew put into place one week ago.
“Peaceful protests and demonstrations are core First Amendmen tvalues of our Democracy and are both appropriate and rightly supported,” the proclamation dissolving the state of emergency reads. “The protest that have occurred in our City of Wilmington have largely been peaceful and proper.”
The city said although recent events showed some were seeking to incite criminal and civil unrest… current criminal intelligence makes it reasonable to believe that there is no longer an imminent threat of widespread or severe damage or injury.
The curfew was put into place on June 2.
New Hanover County lifted its curfew in unincorporated areas on Monday.
