City partners with Coca-Cola and Harris Teeter in recycling effort

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Coca-Cola and Harris Teeter are working with the City of Wilmington to encourage those who have city trash to recycle.

Representative David Rouzer was there to help introduce the program.

Soon letters will be sent out to people who have the city trash service with a sticker. If you put the sticker on your recycle bin, and if the “Coca-Cola Recycling Patrol” spots it, you could win a $50 gift card to Harris Teeter.

Mayor Bill Saffo said right now, about 80 percent of people with city trash recycle, he said he wants to see 100%.

“It’s good for so many different reasons, number one it’s good for the environment, it extends the life of our landfill and it also drives down the cost of recycling for all the citizens in this community,” Saffo said.

The new recycle program will go for the next 6 months.
