City Council to discuss new parking lot and Wrightsville Beach fire boat

There could soon be more parking in downtown Wilmington.

Tuesday night the City Council will discuss a recommendation to use $750,000 from the city’s parking fund to buy land for a parking lot. The land is on Second Street next to the Hannah Block Center.

The council will also take up an agreement with Wrightsville Beach for a new fire boat dock along the Intracoastal Waterway.

The $60,000, 200-foot pier would be built near the Wrightsville Beach Public Works Department. Fire officials said the pier would cut response times to fires near the Intracoastal.
