City council moving further on 3 day wait period law
The Wilmington City Council is moving forward with its attempt to get rid of the 3 day wait law for private clubs.
The council is working on a petition to send to the state Alcohol Law Enforcement board, requesting elimination of the wait period.
Council members argue that it hurts tourism and is selectively enforced, especially against Marines who have been denied access to local bars. The town of Carolina Beach has agreed to support the petition to remove the law, but New Hanover County Commissioners have decided not to support the resolution.
