City Council votes on speed limit change, drainage
WILMINGTON — Wilmington City Council made some important decisions Tuesday night.
Council members voted to reduce the speed limit in certain areas of town from 35 to 25 miles per hour.
Those areas include streets near Airlie Road, including Airlie Brook and Bar Harbor.
The speed limit in Lucia Point was dropped to 15 miles an hour. The speed limit will also be decreasing in Northwood Estates and Summer Haven as well as in the area between Red Cross Street, Third Street and the Cape Fear River.
City Council also authorized work to begin on a flood-prone portion of Market Street.
