City of Wilmington making second offer on golf course
WILMINGTON – The City of Wilmington is over budget some $7 million – but wants to use bond money from a 2006 referendum to make a second bid on Inland Greens Golf Course.
The City Council had previously offered $400,000 for the property off Cardinal Drive.
Mayor Bill Saffo says the city would use money from the 2006 parks bond to pay for the purchase and help fulfill a promise to add parks to an area annexed in the 1990’s.
Saffo said the city plans to keep nine holes of the par three course running and use the rest as a passive park and as part of the cross city trail.
