CityLife Church will have regular Sunday service after devastating fire

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A church that recently celebrated its one year anniversary in Wilmington was destroyed during the Everybody’s Supermarket fire on Wednesday, but their service on Sunday will go on as usual.

CityLife Church has been holding non-denominational church services since March 2017. Those services average about 70 worshippers, some of whom walk to church every Sunday.

Pastors Mike and Cala Dickey were in Florida at a conference when they heard the news that their church was up in flames.

They plan to have their usual Sunday service at 11 a.m. in the parking lot of the Village Plaza shopping center.

Cala says the situation is not ideal, but the church family is staying strong.

“We have an amazing church family,” Cala said. “We’re gonna march hand-in-hand, we’re gonna keep going forward and we’re not gonna let this slow us down. It’s terrible that our building is no longer standing, but the church still is standing and we’re stronger than ever.”

The Dickeys met with their insurance company Friday afternoon to figure out their next move. They said they’d like to stay at their current location if possible.

The church is accepting donations on their website in the wake of the devastating fire.
