Civil War-era cannon restored, installed at Fort Anderson Historic Site
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A little, or rather a large, piece of history is being installed nearly 155 years after the fall of Brunswick Town and Fort Anderson Historic Site.
The 32-pound seacoast cannon installation has been 12 years in the making.
Site Manager Jim McKee conducted extensive archaeological research to find out what cannons would have been used at the site. That led to the purchase of a 7,000 pound cannon now on display.
The historic site is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
