Clarkton man sentenced for assault that cost landlord sight in one eye

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Clarkton man will spend at least six years behind bars for assaulting his landlord more than two years ago.

Shawn Nathan Faulk pleaded guilty to felony malicious maiming. A judge sentenced him to between 77 and 105 months in state prison.

On April 28, 2012, Gooden assaulted his landlord Robert Gooden, then 71, after an argument. Gooden had evicted Faulk from a home, investigators said at the time.

Gooden was so badly injured in the attack that he permanently lost the use of his left eye, prosecutors said.
