Cleanup underway in Bladenboro following Debby

BLADENBORO, NC (WWAY) — Bladenboro business owners want everyone to know they are bouncing back following flooding from Tropical Storm Debby and getting ready to welcome customers back.
Help has been pouring in from all over town and across the state.
Downtown business owners say volunteers started showing up even as the rain continued to fall Wednesday night and early Thursday morning to lend a hand.
On Friday, those volunteers continued to do everything from mop up water- to help carry items into and out of businesses.
And it appears they have plenty of help.
In addition to residents helping businesses clean up and recover, there are several groups and agencies in downtown Bladenboro, including Swift Water Rescue, Greensboro Fire, Baptist Men and some members of the NC National Guard.
Flooding from Debby forced the closure of Main Street on Wednesday, but flood water receded enough Thursday afternoon for the road to be reopened.
Some of the businesses had reopened for business by Friday morning, with many planning to be ready to welcome customers by this weekend.
