Cleared Duke lacrosse player opts to attend Brown
RALEIGH (AP) — One of three former Duke lacrosse players cleared of rape charges has decided he will attend Brown University in the fall.
Reade Seligmann says in a statement that he's looking forward to being a student again.
The announcement comes a day after the Blue Devils lost to Johns Hopkins 12-to-11 in the NCAA championship game in Baltimore.
Seligmann's attorney Jim Cooney says his client will play lacrosse at Brown. Cooney says Seligmann earned a 3.5 grade-point-average despite being charged with rape, kidnapping and sexual offense.
Collin Finnerty and Dave Evans were also indicted after a woman told police she was attacked by three men at a team party. Seligmann and Finnerty, both sophomores at the time, were suspended from Duke after the charges were filed.
